Jorge and Laura Posada Make a $20K Donation to Foundation for Puerto Rico
Former Yankees player, Jorge Posada, and Laura Posada, a certified life coach, once again supported the work of the Foundation for Puerto Rico and its efforts to promote the long-term recovery of Puerto Rico, as well as its economic development. Earlier this year, Jorge and Laura were the hosts of FPR’s annual Golf Tournament and last week, they donated $ 20,000 to help the expansion of the Foundation's projects at an event held at Bacardi headquarters in Miami, Florida. The event took place as part of an FPR tour in the continental United States to meet with organizations and community leaders committed to supporting Puerto Rico.
FPR is deeply grateful for the Posada’s commitment, their generosity has impacted hundreds of families since Hurricane Maria.
The Posadas have been allies and collaborators of the FPR since Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, creating a collection fund that reached its first goal in 24 hours. The couple has made several trips to the island, providing help in the form of electric generators, medicines and furniture, as well as transporting the sick and elderly to the continental United States to receive the treatment they need.
"I want to invite those present that, in the spirit of giving, to accompany Jorge and me by opening their portfolios and donating money to support the efforts of the Foundation for Puerto Rico. We chose the Foundation for Puerto Rico as strategic partners for their vision and their willingness to do whatever is necessary to deliver aid to the needy. This organization is doing a commendable job and we feel blessed to have them as allies. Thank you for all you have done for Puerto Rico, "said Laura Posada.
For her part, Mayol took advantage of the occasion to reinforce the call for collaboration: "As an organization, we are carrying out projects throughout the island. Although we receive federal grants, the granting of this capital requires a matching of private funds, so we continue to look for allies that join our mission to help communities, especially the most vulnerable, that are outside the metro area. "
FPR launched the 60 Days of Giving awareness and fundraising campaign with the goal of accelerating Puerto Rico's long-term economic resilience. With this campaign, FPR is looking to raise 1.3 million dollars, the 20 percent required match of a grant by the United States Economic Development Administration to expand the Bottom Up Destination Recovery Initiative.
